Finally, the Rotary Project IWAG sa BARRIO mission was accomplished.
It was in the last quarter of RY 2019-2020 when this initiative was proposed to RC Metro Kalibo by its partners in service: 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company (APMFC) and Western Provincial Advisory Council. Right away, its sister club Rotary Club of Makati (D3830) responded.
About 86 solar lamps were distributed to the identified recipients in the uphill barangays of LGUs Buruanga, Malay, Nabas and Ibahay.
Last September 16, 2021, the last batch of 13 Solar Lamps were given to Buenasuerte, Nabas and Aparacio, Ibajay, Aklan. Leading the turnover was 2nd APMFC Force Commander PMAJ Donnel P. Regis, MAJ Florante Mabalot, Jr. (INF) Phil. Army/Ex-O 12IB, Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850) Public Image Director PP Megs S. Lunn, and Aklan Baghay, Inc. Pres. Ramel V. Buncalan. Additional food packs and cakes were also given.
The event also coincided with the five-day Barangay Tanod Skills Enhancement Training of 36 participants from Barangays Aparicio, Yawan, Mina-a, Malindog and Monlaque. The said training is through the RCSP or Retooled Community Support Program by the Philippine National Police and LCAC. All barangay chairmen, a few council members and tanod of the said barangays were present, together with some officials from the LGU Ibajay, TESDA, and Aklan Provincial Police Office Advisory Council. After the program and turnover, all participants did a tree planting activity, planting pine trees in line with its green efforts.
ROTARACT of Kalibo VP Mark Anthony V. Dolinog, TESDA Specialist II (PRLEC Focal Person – community based) and Ms. Shiela Mae Regalado, RAC Director of Finance were also present.
