A group of passionate and compassionate mountaineers called Aklan Trekkers once again conducted a successful 4th Upland Outreach Mission in Barangay Panipiason, Madalag, Aklan last March 26-27, 2022. The outreach activity was specifically at Sitio Mananggad, almost next to Brgy. Oyang, Libacao, Aklan. The visit required an overnight camping, hike and crossing a steel bridge. The area can also be reach by a “Habal-Habal.”
The more or less 680 populations with 177 families were served by the team to include psycho social for children, life skills trainings and workshops for parents; games, dance exercises, storytelling, ecotourism & tour guiding, crafts making, backyard gardening, water filtration techniques, proper hand washing & soap cycling, mental health awareness, career pathing, feeding, and likewise, the distribution of seeds, school supplies, groceries, toys, clothing, and OTC medicines.
Also, they formally turned over the “Baeay Darayunan”, a tourism reception and cultural center, which will benefit the ecotourism development of the entire community of Panipiason. The initial funds that constructed the center were from an event held last December 2021.
Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850) led by Life-Changing Pres. Loida M. Enero, have been part of this noble intention and activities by supporting some groceries and the school supplies for more or less 200 school children. Special shoutout to PP Megs Lunn for facilitating the fundraising and PP Suzan Czudai, too, for the additional cash contributions. They look forward to more collaboration and fellowship in the future.
