Patubig Para sa Ati sang Don Salvador Benedicto

The ATI indigenous people in Purok Istiwitis, Barangay Bagong Silang, Don Salvador Benedicto town, Negros Occidental, is a community that has gained the assistance of the Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod led by President Jeinz Salgado, in partnership with Rotarian Mary Lucille Grey, who likewise helped equip this exceptional community with cooking skills and livelihood at “Kusinata” program.

The community has access to vast water resources through the waterfalls and rivers but is very far and can only be reached by foot traversing the downhill and hilly terrains. In this, RC Metro Bacolod decided to help them install the water system in order to bring spring water near their homes by tapping the water line from the water source to help address health and uphold women’s and children’s welfare.

The program led by project coordinator Rotarian Engineer Jay Alpas has become functional and is now being enjoyed. This was implemented last September 17, 2021. Once again, this March 21, 2022, the Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod has visited the Ati community to give out 50 water dispensers as part of the Patubig Project. In addition, since March is the celebration of Women’s Month the club has also given Kaayong Lawas Kits to the women of the community

The Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod has given 50 Kaayong Lawas Kits to the women of the Ati community in Don Salvador. The community consisted of 50 families and most of them were women. The Kaayong Lawas Kit consisted of sanitary pads, tissue, toothpaste, soap, vitamins, ferrous sulfate, salbutamol, cetirizine and paracetamol. In addition the club also has given 720 imported pencils to the community.

Present were PP Renato Monfort, PP Jake Dumapi, PP Emil Masigon, PP Haig Dumapi and President Jeinz Salgado, together with Rotary friends Genelyn Gonzaga and Engr. Joemarie Rios of Integrated Institute of Electrical Engineers, Rotary Metro Bacolod scholar Charlene Gonzalodo and Interact Club of NOHS President Hazel Uberas.
