Four Amputees are Walking Free

It was last February 16, 2022 when Engr. Rodolfo Maigue was spotted in the crowd by Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman Richard “Dick” Gordon himself during his visit to Aklan, while Jesuslito Relou was spotted by PRC 143/Rotarian Megs Lunn last February 28, 2022 in the PRC Aklan Chapter ground during another event. Meanwhile, Rotary Project WALK previous recipient Addryan Martires and new amputee Mr. Gledo Ascaño, both of Tangalan, Aklan get their new legs, too. The four of them had their prosthetics casting last March 7, 2022.

“Abled does not mean enabled. Disabled does not mean less abled.” These amputees are all functional and with a job to meet both ends. They are not a burden but a joy to see that no matter how hard life is, they can and they will have freedom to choose life, to walk free and become productive. We are inspired by their positivity in life.

With grateful hearts, thank you to our partners in service and benefactors Physicians For Peace (PFP) Philippines, Rotary Club of QC Media Tech Life Changing President Meric Mara, PRC Chairman Richard Gordon, PFP & WALK Inc. Dr. Josephine Robredo-Bundoc, PP Ed Escaño of WALK INC and Rotary Club of Forbes Park (D3830). Special thanks to AFPO Jose and Erwin who came from Manila today to bring the prosthetics, to PRC Aklan Chapter Administrator Ms. Mary Joe Galeon for hosting the fitting today, and to Ms Gelyn Pabilico for coordinating with the recipients.

WALK INC Executive Director & Director Public Image PP Megs Lunn personally oversee the procedures today, too.

Together, we are happy to Serve to Change Lives.
