On March 11, 2023, six (6) households received toilet bowls in response to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Rotary also gives access to health through Disease Prevention & Treeatment, Maternal & Child Health, Environment and Peace.
On behalf of Pres. Romy Reyes, Jr., Director Public Image PP Megs Lunn represented the club in giving the said toilet bowls.
The recipients are members of Cawayan Vendors Bayanihan Association (CAVBA): Mr. Tommy Francisco (Carpenter) married with two children; Helen Villanueva (housewife) married with two children, her husband is a tricycle driver; Nacile Ote (housewife), married with three children and her husband is a hospital utility; Leopoldo Francisco, married, no work but supported by children); Erlinda Esmolada (housewife) married with no kids; and Rosita Oliveros (housewife) with three children.
Also present during the turn-over were Aklan PPO PSMU Chief PMAJ Valen Delos Santos, 2nd LT Ryan T Bastan (INF) 3ID Philippine Army, MPS New Washington staff and their Municipal Advisory Group (MAG), Cawayan Barangay Council member Angelita Fritzie, and CAVBA BOD Geralyn T Cerezo.
Open air defecation is very harmful to health and the environment. The lack of sanitation and hygiene leads to various diseases. Prior to the giving, we educate them of the importance of basic handwashing and hygiene.
