Learn how to manage your business from software developer Rotarian Benigno Ramirez

Back in Rotary Year 2013-2014, Cagayan-born Benigno Emilio P. Ramirez or Pichoy served as the district governor of District 3770. Outside Rotarian circles, he is a pioneer in software development having founded Dona Alejandra, Inc. / Global Intelligent Solutions, a successful customized software development company with an impressive clientele of big hospitals and government offices.

PHILIPPINE ROTARY: Tell us more about your customized software development business.

Pdg Ramirez: Our business involves the development of software applications for a specific user or group of users within an organization. Such software is designed to address their needs, which cannot be done by the more traditional and widespread off-the-shelf software. Customized software development entails the commissioning, development, and release of a software product tailor fit to a single specific entity.

PR: What comprises your target market?

Pdg PR: The demand for customized software development is never ending thus the market is everywhere and is increasing rapidly. Businesses now use custom software for their critical functions like customer management, inventory management, content management, human resource management, etc. Customized software is also developed to fill in the gaps present in their existing software packages.

PR: How big should a business be to benefit from your service?

Pdg PR: Our customized software solutions are scalable to provide value to both small, medium businesses and large corporations. Improving efficiency should be a primary goal of every business. One of the most effective options to achieve this goal is to customize software to conform to the mission, goals, and needs of the organization.

Getting rid of excess functions, as well as adding certain program features to assist employees and decision makers, is a necessary decision for companies in pursuing growth.

PR: How did you get involved in this business?

Pdg PR: When we were providing IT hardware to our clients, we saw offices and document storage warehouses that were facing storage shortage, document aging, and slow retrieval of information problems. It was at this point that we planned and later put in development a digital document management system and automated its processing. The project was a success and we have continued our software development business to what it is today.

PR: Any pointers for someone who wants to start in the business?

Pdg PR: The first thing you should do is to conduct market research. Identify your major competitors, target clients, their needs and preferences. Market research is crucial, as it describes the nature of the market you are getting into.
